Tres amusant! It's good to know that I am not the only one who has miniature disasters most mornings. And agreed, getting ready is such a waste of time, how I wish it only took 20 minutes. If we add up all the time we spend in our lives just simply looking presentable to the outside world, now that would be a LOT of time!

Try Teraz mouse. I have curly hair and am not a mouse person but my stylist turned me onto it and it works!

I had a bad morning too. I tripped over my own feet and fell flat on my face while walking to the Metro.

In the history of womanhood, no one could possibly be more 'wash and go' than me...and I STILL resent the hell out of my far-below-minimum routine de beaute. Whenever I've left a salon with a cute new 'do, I do so with the dejected acceptance that I will NEVER be able to duplicate the look. I could have product delivered by the truckload and I'd never even come close. I was SO absent the day they passed out the girlie gene...

Ahem... I have the same problem. I live in texas, where the humidity and disgusting heat curse me with a most unflattering resemblence to a troll crossed with a sheep, only more frizzy. I feel your pain and have yet to find any product that gives me even a glimmer of hope anymore. I have given up. I wonder Sephora with my head down and my tail tucked between my legs.

Ah yes...the late summer "Screw it, I'm cutting it all off" hairdo. So far this year, I've managed to avoid it but I SOOO sympathize. It is my life's AMBITION to be a wash'n'go girl but unless they perfect the head-transplant, it just won't happen.

MK, darling, may I ask what kind of hair dryer you use? I have found (and I have combo hair) that my hair will change characteristics due to the following things 1) water type (hard or soft I travel) 2) product 3) heat and humidity levels 4) hair dryer. I cant do much about the water type unless I want to rinse my hair with bottled water and I cant control the heat and humidity levels but I can control the product and the hair dryer. When it is humid I comb (!very important do not brush or you will frizz!) out my hair after I wash and condition and then use TIGI Ego Boost for a little bit of shape and to keep my hair from flying around my hair like medusa. Then I flip my head over and diffuse using my hair dryer w/ attachment (Remington V1000 Vortex Jet Speed Hair Dryer looks like http://www.pricetool.com/Remington_V1000_Vortex_Jet_Speed_Hair_Dryer ) and alternate cool and warm settings on low never high, that just makes the hairs separate and get all frizzy. With this dryer I can even straighten my hofro (honky afro) and make it all smooth and shiny with no products. When I do that I put a small fan in the bathroom to keep cool. Hope this helps.

So feeling your pain. My hair is straight, but TOO straight; as in, lank when long, sticking out in strawlike clumps when short. It will curl, but not hold the curl without Big Texas Hair type styling, which, no. A month ago I paid 50.00 for a haircut that I hated, because I couldn't make the guy understand that no, the little hairs on the back of the neck that look so cute on other women? Look like shit on me. So I had to go home and finish trimming it badly myself. I'm about ready to invest in hats and scarves. Or shave myself bald. Or both.

I am currently trying to love Kiehl's new styling line. I think I would love it more if I did any actual "styling" and not so much the "please let my hair dry on the subway into perfection."

Have you tried the Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment (not as a deep conditioner, but as a styling aid). I swear to all that is good that a tiny dollop of that stuff makes my hair look Shiny and New. Which it is not. I'm just sayin. For nine bucks it could be worth a shot. I feel your pain on all counts, and I, too, am a Product Whore. A proud one, at that.
